take us to the Washington Harbor (3050 K St. NW, at the very
end of 31st St.) where we will board the Nightingale

even though boat is totally under roof.

of Seoul Restaurant, 1500 South Joyce St., Arlington

restaurant. There will be Korean appetizers, followed
by Korean Barbeque
cooked tableside. Drinks, other than tea, will be your
responsibility -- bring CASH!
At some point in the evening, either before we board the bus
for the cruise, or outside the Nightingale II, we will take
two group photos of the classes, so keep this in mind.
About 9:30pm the bus will take us back to the hotel.
There are plenty of restaurants, cocktail lounges, etc.
where we can
carry on into the evening, if we wish, in and around the
hotel.
Saturday, September 21 -- 10am to ? Over coffee, a
light-hearted discussion about our times at ASIJ, led by Tom
Birkenhead, at a room in the hotel. Be thinking about
YOUR ASIJ experience, the good, the bad, the personal, so
you can add your two bits to the whole. This event is
optional, but we think it'll be a worthwhile, meaningful
part of our reunion if we share and listen to what others
have to say.
2:45pm-3:00pm Board our bus for the picnic at
Algonkian Regional Park, 47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling, Va.
There
is a huge shelter with fireplace (Shelter #1) at the park.
We'll have a great cookout there and enjoy the scenic
Potomac River view, a totally
different one from the previous evening. Wear blue
jeans, relax and plan to have a great time. About 6pm,
we'll board the bus AGAIN to go to Larisa and Jerry Looby's
home, for wine, coffee and dessert. We are
grateful that Ray and Vicky Downs will be regaling us
with an excerpt from their book about their ASIJ years, with
a special emphasis on 1960 and 1961!. At some point,
(about 9pm) we'll have the bus take us on an evening tour of
the Washington DC Mall (not shopping mall, the Capital
Mall)! Then, it'll be time to go back to the hotel.
Sunday, September 22, 9:00am Breakfast at the hotel,
by prior reservation.
Please have your $15 ready for collection on Friday
afternoon. Then it's sayonara, until next time.
ATTENTION: If you are NOT staying at the Arlington
Hilton and Towers, please let us know, so we can build a
better roster of Reunion attendees. Right now we have
a short list of those who have registered at the Hilton.
(Don't forget your deadline). Those who are staying at
some other hotel, or with friends or relatives, unless you
tell us, we can't for sure put you on the "DEFINITELY
will be at the Reunion" list, even though we may have
your money from last year.
Also, if you are staying elsewhere, it is your
responsibility to get yourself to the Arlington Hilton and
Towers within the times listed above, in order to get your
bus transportation to the different events. Otherwise,
you are on your own!
