My family and I left Japan after my
junior year at ASIJ so that my father could complete his
Ph.D. at Duke University. Consequently, I graduated from
Durham High School, and had my freshman year of college
in North Carolina as well. Returning to Japan, I took a
semester off to attend Joshi Bijitsu Daigaku before
completing my academic work at Sophia University.
It was there that I met my husband to
be. We were engaged for 5 years but have now been
married for 32 years. We have two very
independent-minded Siamese cats, and the four of us live
quite happily in our wood home with cathedral ceilings.
I taught school for one year at
Stella Maris in Kobe before hiring with Northwest
Airlines in 1966. My company sent me to Minneapolis,
where I literally had to cool my heels (brrr!) for a
year and a half before I could get a transfer to Seattle
to do international flying. I’ve been enjoying flying
to Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and lately Osaka since moving
to the Pacific Northwest. Some time ago I took a license
in Interior Decorating but decided I would rather work
for someone else than manage my own business. For many
years I was active in my union, though now I just want
to be selfish and enjoy my time off. Too much fun to be
had!
