Since 1973, I've been living in New York
City, on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. I got here via
Wellesley College, Harvard, field work in Taiwan, a
couple of years in Palo Alto. I came to NY when my
then-husband (whom I'd met in graduate school and married in
'68) got a job at Columbia U. We separated in '76 and
divorced in '77. No kids. I worked at the Center
for Policy Research (in NYC) for 3 years, the Social Science
Research Council (also in NYC) for 5, and then was hired to
start the Matsushita Foundation (now "Panasonic
Foundation") in 1985. I've been its
"founding executive director" ever since! My
office is in Secaucus, NJ, just 5 miles west of the Lincoln
Tunnel. |
