| Since then:
After leaving ASIJ, in June 1960, I moved to Berkeley, California and finished High School at Berkeley High School. After graduation, I went into the Navy and joined the Navy under a high school graduate school program, which guaranteed that after basic training I would be sent to a technical school before being assigned to a ship. I attended Radar courses for six months at Treasure Island, CA outside of San Francisco and was assigned to a ship after school. After two years on one ship, I was assigned to another ship and attended radar, computer, and other electronic courses in San Diego, CA.
After completing four years of service, I went to work for a small electronics firm and studied Computer Programming and Systems Design School at night. After completing Computer School, I went to work for Singer Kearfott (yes, the sewing machine company avionics division) in California. While I was working at Federal Savings and Loan in San Diego, I completed my BA in Business Administration from National University in San Diego and started some course work on my MBA, which I have not completed. In 1977, I went to work for a software vendor as field technician and have been doing this type of work since. Today, I work for Computer Associates, which acquired the previous Software Company 11 years ago. I am a Consulting Director, responsible for technical pre-sales in the Western States based in San Diego, CA. This job requires a lot of customer contact, product positioning, technical assistance, and travel. The benefits of travel, such as Frequent Flyer and hotel awards have come in very handy for some vacations.
I am married and have one son, from a previous marriage, and am in the process of figuring out what retirement looks like, and when I can start, after my son completes college in three more years. I enjoy skiing in the winter months and sailing year round. I belong to a sailing club with access to everything from 19' to 46' and have been certified up to 51'. |
